The Kalatop – Khajjiar Wild Life Sanctuary

Beautiful landscape of this sanctuary is covered with deodar, blue pine & fir forests with a view of the snow-capped Pir Panjal forest range. The sanctuary is home to the Black Bear, Leopard, Barking Deer, Ghural, etc. The area is also rich in bird life – Pheasants, Flycatchers, Thrushes, Magpies, Monal, Tragopan, Galiz and Lammergeyers etc. The sanctuary hosts the elusive Serow, a vulnerable goat-antelope. Kalatop Sanctuary is an ideal spot for wildlife photography. The views of the splendid Himalayan range are invigorating from Kala Top. Khajjiar

Khajjiar popularly known as Mini Switzerland is a place with enchanting verdant meadows situated amidst the deodar trees in Chamba valley. Khajjiar is perched at an altitude of 1981 metres above sea level offering scenic splendours of nature’s vistas. It is famous for its placid beauty and a 10th century temple dedicated to the lord of the snakes. There is a small lake surrounded with green meadows. Enjoy adventure sports like trekking, horse riding, Zorbing, etc. Khajjiar is the best spot for picnicking with your loved ones.

Dainkund Peak

Dainkund Peak, perched at an altitude of 2755 metre, is the highest mount in Dalhousie. Tourists can enjoy 360 degree view of the entire valley from this peak. The sound of the breeze passing through the trees makes a musical sound, due to which this peak has also acquired the name, the singing hill. There is Pholani Devi Temple at the the top of this hill, which is one of the major tourist attraction. One of the most interesting facts about this temple is that, except a trident there is nothing inside the temple premises.

Chamera Lake Dalhousie

The Chamera Lake lies on the route to Chamba at an approximate distance of 36 kilometers from the center of the city of Dalhousie. The Chamera is built over the River Ravi and supports the hydroelectricity project in the region. The Chamera Lake is the artificial reservoir built along with the dam and due to the absence of aquatic life in the lake, it is the hub of various water sports near the city of Dalhousie. The vast expanse of the Chamera lake reservoir which is also known as the Bhadrika Lake flaunts the presence of Motor Boats. The motor boat joy ride over such a huge water body is a onetime experience.

Jandhri Ghat

Jandhri Ghat, perched at an altitude of 2036 metres is located at a distance of 2 km from Dalhousie. The palace of erstwhile royalty of Chamba is located at Jandhri Ghat. The place is lined up with streamlets and tall pine trees that offer visitors some beautiful picnic spots here.

Panjpulla

Panjpula is located at a distance of around 3 km from Dalhousie. It is the place where a descending stream pours into and feeds several pools. The main stream that supplies water to cities of Dalhousie and Balloon is the Panjpula stream. The stream originates from the northern side of Dayakund, which then cuts through a ravine to fall into the water bodies located in Panjpula.

Sach Pass

Sach Pass is located at about 4400 mts above sea level and located at a distance of 150KM from Dalhousie. Sach Pass is the gateway for the Pangi Valley. This is because water in these springs comprises mica, which is known as ‘Gandhak’ in local language which helps in curing many diseases and ailments.

Laxmi Narayan Temple(Chamba)

It is a 10th century temple, which is constructed in the Shikhara style by Sahil Verman. It is the oldest and the largest of all the temples located in Chamba region. The temple complex houses six shrines, which are either dedicated to Lord Vishnu or to Lord Shiva. Inside the temple, there is a main idol of Lord Vishnu, which is made using a rare piece of marble that has a glittering appearance.
